We want to provide an enjoyable, but educational, place to taste and savor Japanese sake.
As interest in Japanese sake increases locally, we are expanding our Toyo Shokuhin brand
by opening the Toyo Sake Shop and Tasting Bar. We hope you stop in for a taste!

Whether it’s fermented fruit (wine), rice (sake), or even malted barley (beer), we’re on a mission to provide the perfect atmosphere for enjoying your favorite or new adult beverage in North Carolina’s Triangle. By combining our years of expertise in Japanese grocery retail with our in-house Sake sommelier, we’re well equipped to enhance your evening! We hope you take a moment to stop by, once we’ve opened our doors, later in 2025.

About us
We began our journey with Toyo Shokuhin Japanese Grocery and Gifts (also located at 748 E Chatham), but found that the customers had a steadily increasing curiosity in sake. This led Chris, owner and in-house Sake sommelier, to open a dedicated sake shop! Now you too can experience a taste of Japan, without buying the whole bottle!

We plan to have beer on tap as well.
